SURFING IN LOMBOK

Lombok is a tropical island of the Indonesian archipelago and is located between Bali and Sumbawa, in the Indian Ocean.

It is considered Bali from the 70s - 80s, because of its resemblance to the island sister, but still poorly economic developed, which makes this island a still magical and uncontaminated place. In addition to its paradisiacal landscapes, its volcanoes, its dense tropical jungle, its long white beaches, its crystal clear waters and its cordial population, Lombok is famous for its world class wave of Desert Point (Banko-Banko), known all over the world as one of the best left hander ever.

Thanks to its geographical location in Lombok you will find all types of waves, from the intermediate and experienced surf reef to the beach break for the beginner, swells are constant throughout the year and there are numerous breaks of the highest quality, many of which are still secrets spots!

 

SPOTS LOMBOK

Desert Point

Also known as Bangko Bangko, this wave is considered one of the best on the planet. Here, tubes of 20 consecutive seconds have been recorded and 10-second tubes are very common. Spot recommended for experienced surfers, very shallow reef.

Gerupuk

The 7 kms of Gerupuk Bay host 5 spots that work differently depending on tide, wind and swells. Basically you can always find a wave at Gerupuk. All waves are accessible only by boat and suitable for all levels, from beginner to expert.

 

Ekas Bay

Spot located east of Kuta about 30 minutes drive and then 20 minute boat ride across the bay. Ekas Bay is home to two points: the outside and the inside. Both spots offer long lefts on reef bottom with a nice drop and some occasional tube. Recommended to intermediate and experts.

 

Mawi

Quality reef break, which in small days offers a right and left waves with steep walls, accessible to everyone. With big swell conditions, this wave turns into a powerful left-handed barrel, with vertical take-offs, suitable for advanced surfers.

Are Guling

Right wave on reef of excellent quality, accessible both by sea and by land. One of the best waves on the island, it can offer very long and vertical walls and barrels! On the other side of the bay there is also a very fun left for all levels.
