SURFING IN PUERTO VIEJO

Puerto Viejo has become one of the top destination surf spots for surfers in search of the best waves in Costa Rica. Because of its rolling coastline, white sand beaches and notoriously ‘hollow’ low tide waves, Puerto Viejo attracts surfers of different levels of expertise. Beginners, intermediates and advance surfers alike can find a perfect breaking wave that caters to their level of experience. our surf camp is located in Playa Cocle spot, Just 10 minutes away from the rest of the most importants spots in the area.

SEASONAL CONDITIONS

Costa Rica surfing is definitely recommended, is a legendary surfing location and is seen as more of a 'hardcore' destination and for the adventurous it could be the trip of a lifetime.

Water Temperature: around 27oC. No wetsuits needed. Dry Season: February to June, September to November Wet Season: December, January, July & August

MAJOR SWELLS

Rainiest months (Dec/Jan & July/Aug) correspond with the swell;it can rain for days on end, but the sun usually comes out a bite every day.

Salsa Brava

The famous Salsa Brava is known as the most intense wave of Costa Rica. This wave is right in the village, in front of the Salsa Brava Beach Bar. Breaking on a coral reef, it offers sinister and very vertical right with pipes impossible to forget! This wave is only recommended for experienced surfers.
